Ref : BradNaylor - I recall Mr Bromley. Sadly, he left when I was in my first year of 'junior school',but I recall he took us for drama lessons and attained legendary status via that route anyway. Regarding your pub crawls, when I starte embarking on such things in the mid-80s, it was slightly different - half a pint in the Robby's pubs, two pints in the others. This, you may recall, was in the era were Robby's introduced those electronic pumps (3 Tunnes excepted) which rendered their beer more or less undrinkable.

Interesting to read about the pub crawl, did you all schlepp up to the fiveways to start with, plenty I knew could never be bothered with the walk, strange pub anyway the Fiveways, didn't feel like a Grove pub to me, maybe I was too geographically challenged back then.
Anyway, the pub crawl, we just went for the pint in every pub option, every group of lads has a couple of heavy hitters in the drinking stakes, they usually dictate the pace, unfortunately I wasn't one of them but, never to be outdone, I would give it my best shot. This meant that somewhere around the Anchor/Grove Inn/Woodman triangle there would need to be a time out, generally we would take food onboard at the Kentucky (no such thing as KFC back then) or Philip the Chinese opposite.
Then it was on with the last leg of the journey, funny how I never realised at the time why we often ended up in lumber at the George, blamed it on the pub rather than the influx of groups of young blokes all doing the same as us.
Great memories, mis-spent youth, wouldn't change a thing. Well maybe I would change one or two things, the front window of the Golden Door cost me £377, I paid it though.....

We always used to start in the George and end in the Sun, occasionally taking in the Royal Oak. Never made it as far as the Fiveways though.

You can still purchase Simpson's sausages at the Spar on the Wimpey Estate.

I remember Wendy. My cousin is Brian Weaving and think you are related in some way. Now living near Southport. Left the Grove in 1977. Only seen Brian at funerals and the like. My cousin used to own the Mill at the top of Commercial Road. They now live in Criccieth and Brian called to see them recently.
