The big question should be do we really need a 4th supermarket in the Grove?

We now have one of the big four (sainsburys), a budget supermarket (Aldi) and an up market supermarket (M&S)! What possible need do we have for another one? This is one of the main reasons the coop is on it's arse in the first place.

It'll never happen, but i'd love to see the place changed in to a decent shop that we do need locally, for instance a matalan! or split in two or three and they could put in an argos, a clothes shop of some form, etc.

Like i said it'll never happen, the council will allow anyone with the money to spend to do will it whatever they please, rather then block any plans that don't benefit the community in favour of pursuing a better alternative.

Also it's got to be said, who say's anything's going to happen with the coop? There have been rumours that it's going and becoming ..... whatever for the last 5 years!

The staff are saying that Asda Big knobs have been swarming all over the place!!

That will be why the 'staff' are being nice for a change!!

If that's all we're all basing this on then i won't hold my breath! I have known people who work there and over the years lost count of the amount of times the coop's going and heard "it's a done deal" from the staff!

It'll be nice if for once it's more then just hear say, but as i said i won't be holding my breath!

I'm hopeful of Asda. The planning application was certainly interesting.

Ive seen people in the Co-Op measuring and taking pictures of the till areas etc.
Ive also seen in the carpark outside and on the main A6 near the closed off road, surveyors measuring up. So somethings in the pipeline

I did get my info from someone in management at the Co-Op, so Asda looks the most likely does it not, I would have rather had a Morrissons, or as mentioned split up into units. An Argos would be a boon definitely.

They wouldn't put a Morrisons there as they've got one in Bredbury and one on Poynton,

Asda are after smaller stores but where you can still do a weekly shop. I would think the co-op is ideal.

I just hope they do it up. it has been loking grotty for years!

ASDA would be great, access from the A6 would be a must though. I would say though even just access in (like a sliproad) to save on traffic.
I agree the stockport ASDA is grubby, but look at Hulme, Trafford Park or any other - they are spotless and really good.
If you just shopped on offers, asda would beat prices everytime. Sainsburys is far too expensive.
www.mysupermarket.com to compare your shop - tesco is cheapest for me.
